EVICTION EVENT

At the Old Paradise Yard, 15th Nov, London, SE1 7LG

BEFORE:

After a strong demo in front of Guy's and St Thomas' Foundation, we had to keep the actions going to protest against the eviction... So we decided to organise an Open Event in Old Paradise Yard with speeches, studio visits and a visual protest, to show the public what is going to be destroyed and left vacant if nothing is done.

D-DAY:

We welcomed over 100 people in our little Yard! They were able to visit around, meet the artists in their studios, get information about our eviction and our campaign, and enjoy crepes and mulled wine from a food truck we collaborated with. Protest signs had been placed everywhere.

The Baroness and ex MP Catharine Hoey, the CEO of Eat Work Art Leo Lawson-O'Niel, and two Save Waterloo Paradise representatives then came for powerful speeches.

This ended on a quite emotional note of every resident in OPY taking a candle and placing it to form the last letter of NO EVICTION written on the floor of the Yard...
